Snowdon Climb for Charity

On 9 May 2008 Cougar Cat Steve led a team of intrepid engineers to the summit of Snowdon to raise money for Cancer Research UK. The whole expedition was Steve's idea and he single-handedly organised the event.

From the left: Fraser, Steve, Andy, from Cougar Automation Ltd, Richard from Otis Lifts, and Oliver and Paul from United Utilities.

Steve describes the three and a half hour assent up the Rhyd Ddu path:

"The pace was slow, slow, quick, quick, then slow. We had plenty of rest breaks on the route, as some of us are not getting any younger . We all reached the summit, and enjoyed the walk. That’s Fraser on the left of the photo, the fittest amongst us on the day.

After reaching the top, it took another three hours to get back to ground level.  We celebrated the completion of the walk, with a well deserved drink in the nearby pub.

Mitsubishi Electric kindly supplied 6 umbrellas, which thankfully we didn’t need on the day. The weather was gorgeous.

I am really pleased that we raised £350 for Cancer Research UK. Fraser did really well, raising over £80 and I would like to pass on my best wishes to all who sponsored us. I would like to say a big thank you to Cathy Busani of Happy who donated £100.

Next year it could be Ben Nevis ."
