Remembering Dennis McDonald

           Dennis McDonald

All of us at Cougar Automation are deeply saddened by the passing of our friend and colleague, Dennis McDonald. Dennis passed away on 21 May 2018 following complications from surgery. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Lynne and his family and friends at this difficult time.

Dennis had been a huge positive presence on our team since joining Cougar six years ago, serving as the regional leader at our Warwickshire office. He understood the collective responsibility of the Leadership team and was actively engaged in shaping overall company policy.

We will always remember him for his loyalty and helpfulness to everyone at Cougar, and in particular his strong attachment to his Warwickshire team. But more than that, Dennis added a much appreciated colourful, comedic and sometimes unintentionally eccentric atmosphere to our work life, knowing just how to balance fun with professionalism when both were needed. He could be himself with the Warwickshire team, and he wore that ability as comfortably as a glove. He shared his opinions openly, but in a manner that was more positive than critical, a quality that he shared in a quote he provided on our website: “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.”

We consider ourselves a family at Cougar, and so with Dennis’s passing we know we have lost a bit of ourselves. But we believe firmly that we are truly better for having had him as part of our lives and that we will remember him with great fondness always.

If you worked with Dennis and would like to share with us your memories of him or your condolences, we would be honoured to hear them and will ensure they get passed on to his family and his co-workers.

We fittingly end with Dennis own, often-heard words: “Goodbye, mucker. Have a good ‘un.”
